Whitecury

Whitecury - Platinum, Palladium - 6 Concessions

The Whitecury project covers a total of 22,792.81 hectares located in the south east part of the Esmeraldas province. The interest areas were located after a careful statistical treatment of different geochemical data, the interpretation of the available geophysical work done along the Western Cordillera and the observation of the morphology and topography of the terrain.

Island arc volcanic rocks underlying oceanic crust have been abducted to the paleo-continent since Late Cretaceous to Eocene. These terrains are the basement of the Western Cordillera.Volcanism has covered most of these terrains and magmatism has intruded granodiorite rocks along the suture zones. In Esmeraldas province the presence of the ofiolitic complex is almost intact: pillow lavas, basalts and andesite basalts, gabbros, and piroxenites can be seen.

Exploration work in this region has been performed by DINAMI ((Ecuadorian Geological Survey) and the Belgium Technical Mission. The last regional exploration work was carried on by PRODEMINCA where 15,176 stream sediments samples were collected along the Western Cordillera and sent to analysis for 38 elements including platinum and palladium.

Location

Six concessions covering an extension of 22,791.81 hectares located in the south east part of the Esmeraldas Province form the WHITECURY Project.

The access is by the paved route Quito - Pedro Vicente Maldonado for 2 hours and then a secondary road until the village of Cristobal Colon, just in the western limit of the concessions for approximately 5 hours.

Since 3,500 years ago the people from the west part of Ecuador use to work with gold and platinum mined in placer deposits. Handicraft from this cultures can be seen in the Central Bank Museum.

The interest areas were located after a careful statistical treatment of different elements including platinum, studding the geology of the zone, the interpretation of the available geophysics and the observation of the morphology and topography of the terrain.

With this project we want to discover the source.
